College Ministry
City Blessing Church Campus Club, more familiarly known campus-wide as City Blessing, is a branch of the College Ministry in Claremont CBC. What started off as a mere three-student prayer group for the school, launched into a social gathering where the unspeakable happened. Prayers were answered, life’s obstacles obliterated, illnesses vanished, unity and mercy were granted, and of course, outstanding grades were achieved. Who would’ve thought that a simple prayer from three students could instigate such a tremendous impact? One answer: their sole desperation was for God.
Founded in Cal Poly Pomona, the City Blessing Campus Club is a chartered club since September 2007. Its purpose is to guide students in God’s ways on how to tackle the tough times on being a college student. They look into turning the impossible to the possible and the bad to good by looking at life’s manual, finding out one’s identity and why on earth we are here. Also, looking at becoming a better self by unlocking God’s secrets of success, while taking the steam off school stress by just chilling out together.
One unique aspect of this club that’s different from all the Christian clubs out there is the prayer booths we offer in campus. It took a lot of boldness for us to step out there in the busiest section of Cal Poly and offer prayers for the students. Though it was a team effort, the prayer booths taught us to individually put our faith into action. Sure, there were many rejections. But our trust in the Lord overcame those disheartening times as many prayers were answered and miracles happened. Not only were the students touched by God’s power, but also their whole family. We hold video game tournaments nearly every quarter with over 50 contestants at each event. It’s a relaxing but suspenseful time as gamers compete for a chance to win awesome prizes or the coveted first place title. Through the quarterly gaming tournament, we recently joined forces with the student government of the school by hosting a popular campus-wide event during finals week. Our link with this government caused us to be part of the campaign team, believing that the students chosen for office will dictate laws that honor God.
Just like the parable of the mustard seed, God uses an insignificant group of college students and birthed a club that is active in the different networks of the campus. As Many organizations would say, “We Could Not Have Done It Without You!” It’s true. Your time and most importantly, your prayers are making a lot of the above mentioned things happen. We’re out there in the field, but you supporting us from the back line is incredibly vital. We challenge you to come join this exhilarating experience with us as we take on another year at Cal Poly Pomona! We promise you that people’s lives will be changed and so will yours.
